Learn How Technology Works by Building a Talking Computer!

What will kids do?

We believe the best way to learn how technology works is to build it. From start to finish, campers will design, build and code a programmable smart speaker that they will take home at the end of the week.

About Chatterbox

letter from our founder

Hey there!

I’m Kevin, the founder of Chatterbox.

I’ve been focusing on education technology (or technology education) for children my entire career, first at Tynker (which teaches kids to code), then Piper (which is a build-it-yourself computer for children). Since then I’ve had a daughter of my own which has led me to reevaluate the role of technology in my family’s life and prompted me to build Chatterbox: an educational smart speaker kit that teaches kids about technology and AI. Currently, Chatterbox is used by schools across the United States to teach kids about AI literacy.

While Chatterbox has kept us busy, we’re very excited to finally launch the Chatterbox Build Lab, where kids will get an immersive deep dive into the creative process while learning how to make fun projects that combine science, technology, engineering, math, art and AI.

In each given week, kids will have a series of design challenges that will require creative thinking, collaboration and problem-solving. We’ll prototype using cardboard (my favorite material), learn to use production grade tools like laser cutters, use Raspberry Pi computers to make smart devices and learn about AI literacy and privacy.

This in-person camp experience has been a years-long dream that I’m excited to finally bring to life at the Idea Fab Lab which is where Chatterbox is actually made!

We look forward to teaching your child about the wonderful world of making!
